After returning to Australia following two years living in London, Dayna found many of her friends had moved away. She realised there were few opportunities for people in their 20s and 30s to meet new people once they had left school or university. Rather than accepting the situation, she decided to create a solution.
Through the Self-Employment Assistance program, delivered by Auctus Training & Education, Dayna transformed that idea into Be Social Experiences – a business that brings people together through social events, experiences and travel.
“The Self-Employment Assistance program helped me create and grow my business while still following the original purpose of helping others.”
Dayna says she discovered the program almost by chance while exploring her options after returning home.
“The program gave me a structure so that I could visually picture it and put it into action. It outlined so many aspects that I wasn’t aware of including insurance, financial help and workshops.”
Starting with free beach walks, Be Social Experiences has grown into a thriving business offering ticketed events across Adelaide, domestic travel experiences and, in October 2026, its first international group trip to Japan. The business is also launching a unique “Grown-up Adventure Weekend”, inspired by Dayna’s business mentor.
More importantly, the business is delivering exactly what Dayna hoped it would.
“I get to witness so many people’s lives get changed, which was a long-term goal of mine.”
Dayna credits the support of the Self-Employment Assistance program, along with her mentor and the team at Auctus Training & Education, with helping turn her vision into reality.
Her story is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when people are given the right support to pursue self-employment. It’s not just about starting a business—it’s about creating lasting social and economic value within local communities.
The National Self-Employment Association congratulates Dayna on her success and wishes her every success as Be Social Experiences continues to grow.
